Technology Takes Center Stage At AAPEX 2016

More than 40 AAPEXedu sessions were held, including the new "Let's Tech" presentations, which were delivered in 20 minutes or less on emerging vehicle technologies and the latest diagnostic smartphone apps.

AAPEX 2016 spotlighted the latest technologies in the automotive aftermarket industry by introducing several new programs to keep attendees ahead of the curve. AAPEX 2016 took place Nov. 1-3 at the Sands Expo in Las Vegas.

Technology at AAPEX 2016 included:

• A new Automotive Technology section on the show floor to showcase the newest products and services

• New “Let’s Tech” presentations delivered in 20 minutes or less on emerging vehicle technologies and the latest diagnostic smartphone apps

• A dedicated AAPEXedu track on Connected Car Opportunities with sessions on telematics, self-driving cars and the impact of embedded software and copyright law on the aftermarket parts and service industry

• A keynote address on cybersecurity and how businesses can reduce the vulnerabilities of the cyber domain by retired Four-Star General Michael Hayden, former director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and National Security Agency (NSA)

Technology also was featured during the AVI and the Automotive Service Association (ASA) training offered alongside AAPEX, with sessions on servicing today’s connected cars and advanced-level diagnostics.

AAPEX 2016 featured 2,259 exhibiting companies, 5,414 booths and more than 40 AAPEXedu sessions. The event drew 43,339 targeted buyers, and approximately 158,000 automotive aftermarket professionals from 140 countries were in Las Vegas during Industry Week 2016.
