Maryland Repair Shop Adds Toy Repair to Service Offerings

The 7-year-old son of one of Western Tire and Auto's customers insisted that he had to take his broken toy skid loader to "Mr. Kevin" who is the assistant manager of where his parents take their vehicles for service. Western Auto fixes broken toy

STEVENSVILLE  — When his toy John Deere skid loader broke recently, 7-year-old James Laster II of Stevensville knew just what he needed to do to get it fixed.

The toy had broken once before, and his dad repaired it. This time, James told his dad he needed to go to Western Auto.

James Laster, who actually works for John Deere, said the toy is one of his son’s favorites. The little lever inside had broken off.

He said James came and told him, "We need to go see Mr. Kevin."

Kevin Middleton is assistant store manager of Western Tire and Auto, and James knew him from his parents buying parts in the store and having repairs done there.

His dad told him Western Auto didn’t do those kind of repairs, so James went to his mom.

James said he was mad because his dad wouldn’t take him to Western Auto, Gidget Laster said. She asked him why he needed to go there.

He replied, "So they can fix my skid loader."

So his dad called Middleton and explained the situation. Middleton told him to bring James on over.
