(Cherokee Tribune/Anthony Stalcup)A lucky and deserving family in Cherokee County could receive a car this spring thanks to a Hickory Flat auto shop.

"The community has been good to us, and we want to pay them back with some blessings like we’ve been given," said Tim Keeton, who owns Hickory Flat Highway Automotive with his wife, Renee.

The couple is giving away a four-door, black 1995 Honda Civic to a person or family that needs a vehicle.

"We want it to go to someone without reliable means of transportation that this will make a big difference in their life," Mrs. Keeton said.

The shop is accepting nominations for people to receive the donation until March 15.

"It should be someone that a car will not be a convenience but a necessity," Mrs. Keeton said of the nominees.

The nominees also must have a valid driver’s license and be capable of acquiring automobile insurance.

The car will be given away after March 20.
