Haunted Garage bays open for Halloween

At 138 Centennial St., spiders are weaving awesome webs, witches are fermenting the brew in their cauldrons, zombies are brushing the mold from their clothes, vampires are sharpening their fangs, all getting ready for a Halloween extravaganza intended to raise the dead right out of their graves.

For the fifth year in a row, owner Myra Fowler and her crew of ghoulish mechanics are preparing to open the Haunted Garage and Junk Yard Walk from 6 to 9 on Friday and Saturday nights, Oct. 29 and 30. It’s a wonderful, free Halloween experience not to be missed by children and the young at heart.

Just passing by the address — normally the place of business for L & W Auto Repair — brings a shiver. There are hearses and black funeral coaches with hostile horses guarding the entrance. And that’s only a preview.

The ghostly delights take place inside the four-bay garage and in the graveyard of vehicle carcasses out back, where human body parts can often be seen poking out of windows and trunks.
