An employee at Tom’s Tires in Bronte, TX, was killed after the tire he was working on exploded.

The Coke County Sheriff’s Department reported the accident happened Wednesday at about 2:30 p.m.

Chief Deputy Randall Jacks said 28-year-old Jesse Rosson was putting air into a tire he had just changed when it exploded.

Jacks said the tire rim separated from the tire and hit Rosson in the head, causing severe head trauma. Rosson was pronounced dead at 2:50 p.m.

Officials believe the tire exploded because it was overinflated.
