The Pulse: Diagnostic Tool Usage and Charges

In this installment of "The Pulse," we take a closer look at data from IMR Inc. showing trends for diagnostic tool usage and charges during each month of 2009.

While reaching its highest point of 48.8% in February, on average in 2009, 45.4% of vehicles were serviced in shops where diagnostic tools are used, according to IMR’s research.

The average amount charged for diagnostic procedures in 2009 was $62.40. This fee fluctuated throughout the year from a high of $66.20 in March to a low of $59.80 in August, but overall these numbers are up from 2008, according to IMR President Bill Thompson.
