Bosch Spark Plugs Named Favorite Brand In Popular Mechanics’ Reader Poll

Readers of Popular Mechanics magazine have named Bosch Spark Plugs as their favorite spark plug brand in the magazine's 2009 Reader's Choice Awards.

Popular Mechanics conducted the survey to determine readers’ favorite choices, and more than 7,000 participants voted for their choice among at least five competing brands. The voting revealed that readers selected Bosch as the favored spark plug brand of choice.

"Bosch appreciates the recognition by Popular Mechanics magazine readers. All they were asked was what is your favorite spark plug," said Mark Wilkinson, senior product manager for spark plugs for Bosch in North America. "Bosch has built the superiority of its spark plug brand since the early days of the automobile, and continues to advance the brand with cutting-edge technology and manufacturing precision. We offer the knowledgeable motorist a wide range of spark plugs, from the Bosch Platinum Ir Fusion four-electrode plug, which uses platinum, iridium and yttrium precious metals, to the single electrode Bosch Super Plus copper coreplug, all of which offer superior performance and durability.

Bosch invented the first commercially viable spark plug in 1902, and for more than a century has been a worldwide leader in automotive products and technology. Bosch developed the concept of heat ranges for spark plugs, still used universally today, and pioneered the coppercore plug, the platinum plug, and the combination of platinum and iridium forultimate spark power and spark plug durability. Bosch manufacturers its spark plugs with strict standards of quality, and matches spark plugs to individual automobile models in the replacement market.

"We congratulate Bosch for this honor," said Bill Congdon, publisher, Popular Mechanics. "Popular Mechanics’ readers demand quality and performance in any product they install, and are very savvy when it comes to their automobiles. They are basically Main Street America, and often turned to for automotive advice by their neighbors, friends and family.”
