New in 2006, The Timken Company has joined with Tomorrow’s Technician magazine to bring its training information to more than 52,000 students across the U.S. In May, Timken provided its technical training DVD “Removing and Installing a Hub Bearing Assembly” to the subscribers of Tomorrow’s Technician, which is provided to approximately 1,000 NATEF-certified schools. The magazine is distributed to students in secondary and post-secondary automotive, heavy-duty and PBE studies.

“The Timken Company believes in the future of the Automotive Aftermarket. We want to support the education of new technicians coming into the business by providing this DVD,” said J. Barry Harris, Timken marketing manager for the automotive aftermarket in North America and South America. "We also hope that they will then turn to our website for even more information.”

Timken is widely known as a leading manufacturer of a broad range of bearings, from those so small a microscope is needed for inspection, to those large enough to stand inside, weighing from half an ounce to nine tons. But what many people don’t know is that Timken is also heavily involved in education. “At Timken, our knowledge of friction management and power transmission brings unparalleled value to customers. In fact, we are dedicated to using all we know to improve our customers’ performance,” said Harris.

Timken’s website contains a host of information to help train distributors and professional technicians. The hub training DVD included in the mailing offered a glimpse of the company’s exclusive Tech Series CD, a multimedia tool that helps users get the most out of Timken bearings, seals, hubs and lubricants. A copy can be requested by visiting www.timken.com/techseries.
