GearWrench Unveils New Gimbal Ratchet at 2013 SEMA Show

The GearWrench Gimbal Ratchet design allows the ratchet head to rotate on two planes making it easy to spin fasteners free in confined spaces. It is available in 1/4" and 3/8" drive sizes and has a 72-tooth ratcheting mechanism that provides a five-degree swing arc.

GearWrench, an Apex Tool Group brand, announced at the 2013 SEMA Show its new Gimbal Ratchet, which offers enhanced ratcheting access for professional automotive technicians.

The Gimbal Ratchet design allows the ratchet head to rotate on two planes, providing easier access for the end user. The 72-tooth ratcheting mechanism provides a five-degree swing arc and allows technicians to spin fasteners on and off in hard-to-reach areas where it’s difficult to use a standard ratchet. Like other GearWrench Ratchets, the Gimbal Ratchet exceeds ASME performance requirements. The anodized aluminum finish offers protection and makes the ratchet easy to clean.

“Technicians often struggle with fastener removal when using a standard ratchet in tight spaces,” said Jim Stewart, product manager for GearWrench.  “With the Gimbal Ratchet technicians can access and easily spin fasteners free. This new innovation will make life easier for technicians working under dashboards or in other confined spaces.”

This product is the latest addition to the comprehensive line of GearWrench ratchets. The Gimbal Ratchet joins the GearWrench 120XP (Standard and Flex-head) ratchets, 84T Long Handle Ratchets and other ratchets that make up the extensive GearWrench line.

The Gimbal Ratchets are available in the following SKUs:

– 81027 1/4” Drive Gimbal Ratchet

– 81270 3/8” Drive Gimbal Ratchet

In addition to ratchets, GearWrench also produces ratcheting and non-ratcheting wrenches, sockets, screw/nut drivers, pliers and other specialty tools.
