Rislone Introduces 3X Concentrated Engine Oil Supplement With Zinc Treatment For Older Vehicles

As the average age of today's vehicles get older, many standard motor oils can no longer provide enough meta protection, according to Rislone.

Screen Shot 2016-04-25 at 10.24.09 AMA car of average age today needs more metal protection for its engine than it can get from standard motor oil. That’s because the average age of U.S. vehicles is currently 11.5 years old, according to research firm IHS Automotive, and all vehicles of that age and older need more zinc and phosphorous than current engine oils contain. Rislone 3X Concentrated Engine Oil Supplement with Zinc Treatment (p/n 4405) provides technicians and counter personnel the ability to help customers with older vehicles.

Environmental Protection Agency emissions regulations led to new engine designs that have allowed motor oil manufacturers to significantly reduce the zinc and phosphorus content of motor oil over the past couple of decades. As a result, the oil sold today works fine for new vehicles, but doesn’t meet the needs of more than a third of the cars and light trucks on the road today, according to Rislone.

The company says its Rislone 3X Concentrated Engine Oil Supplement with Zinc Treatment is a cost-effective way to help modern motor oils better protect the metal surfaces of older gasoline and diesel engines, safeguarding internal components like pistons, flat tappet camshafts, lifters and the valvetrain. It works with all petroleum-based motor oils including conventional, high-mileage and synthetic formulas.

For older vehicles, Rislone 3X Concentrated Engine Oil Supplement with Zinc Treatment offers two ways to protect and lubricate moving parts better than oil alone, the company adds. The first is high levels of ZDDP (zinc dialkyldithiophosphate) zinc and phosphorus additives. When put under pressure, ZDDP attaches to metal surfaces and becomes a sacrificial wear material, preventing the metal itself from being worn away. Copolymer esters are the second level of protection. They have an attraction for metal surfaces that allow modern oils to hold onto metal surfaces instead of running off as normally happens over time.

“This product is a great performance booster developed to help keep older cars, about a third of the cars on the road today, running properly for years longer,” said Clay Parks, vice president of development for Rislone. “Rislone 3X Concentrated Engine Oil Supplement with Zinc Treatment not only contains the correct amount of ZDDP, the best form of zinc and phosphorus protection available anywhere in the automotive world, it also has the detergents and other lubricity additives important for keeping your customers’ engines clean and lubricated for thousands of miles.”

Rislone 3X Concentrated Engine Oil Supplement with Zinc Treatment reduces friction and wear, especially at start-up, resulting in a cooler-running, longer-lasting engine, the company says. This high-performance formula also stabilizes the motor oil to prevent viscosity and thermal breakdown. Special additives inhibit corrosion and prevent oil thinning at high temperatures where normal oil fails.

Rislone’s new formula is made for car and light truck gasoline engines (2004 or older); light-, medium- and heavy-duty diesel engines (2006 and older); 4-stroke marine engines; motorcycle engines (dry clutch only); as well as agricultural, industrial and racing applications. For best protection, Rislone Engine Oil Supplement with Zinc Treatment should be used with every oil change. It should not be sold as a break-in additive.

Rislone 3X Concentrated Engine Oil Supplement with Zinc Treatment is available to distribution in case packs of six 11 oz. bottles. Like all Rislone products, it is made in the U.S.A. The label includes directions in both English and Spanish.
