Directions: New Year’s Brings New Changes At Underhood Service

Andrew MarkelIn 1997, UnderhoodService.com was launched. Since then, our website has been constantly built upon, and has grown to more than 12,000 pages to date. Last year was our best year in company history, as our growth in traffic spiked to its highest level since the website’s inception. But we’re not stopping there.

In 2016, we are stepping up our game when it comes to our digital offerings. The first thing you will notice is a newly enhanced email newsletter that will be delivered every Wednesday and Saturday. The new Underhood Service eNewsletter has been streamlined to focus more on the topics and technical information Underhood Service readers care about the most, and replaces the AutoCarePro eNewsletter subscribers previously received. (If you wish to receive the Underhood eNewsletter, go to www.underhoodservice.com and hit the “Subscribe” tab at the top of the page.)

Also, we are amplifying our social media presence on Twitter, Facebook and other platforms for 2016 to better connect with our readers. Please like us on Facebook at UnderhoodService and follow us on Twitter @UnderhoodServ. I also invite you to follow me on Twitter at @andrewmarkel.

We are pleased to announce we are adding to our staff in the new year with industry veteran Donny Seyfer, who will serve as a regular columnist for Underhood Service. Donny is the co-owner of Seyfer Automotive Inc. in Wheat Ridge, CO, and has 30 years of automotive experience as a technician, manager and service consultant. Donny is an ASE Master and L1 Advanced Diagnostic Certified Technician, ASE Certified Service Consultant, AMI Accredited Automotive Manager, and a two-time NAPA/ASE Regional Technician of the Year. He is also the current Automotive Service Association chairman.

Finally, as we enter into another year, I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you for reading. We hope you like what we have in store for 2016, and stay tuned for more to come.

CTI Scan Tool Wall

ON THE ROAD: The Scan Tool Wall of Fame

The new Carquest Technical Institute (CTI) research and development center in Raleigh, NC, now features a wall of scan tools that has come to be known by the staff as the “Scan Tool Wall of Fame.” This tribute to the history of the aftermarket has almost every scan tool you can think of — from OBDI cartridge-based tools to the latest and greatest tablet scan tools from OEMs and aftermarket manufacturers. The collection also contains TPMS, leak detection and scope tools. The wall chronicles at least 35 years of diagnostic history. For technicians, this is the equivalent of making a pilgrimage to Cooperstown, NY, or Canton, OH.
