NAPA AUTO PARTS, the Official Auto Parts Store of the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association, awarded Yuba City, CA, resident Ron Dixon a NAPA Trick Truck award at the 19th Autumn Get-Together in Pleasanton, CA, for his 1948 pearl orange Chevy pickup.
The truck rebuild was a project for Dixon, his wife and friends that was completed in December 2006. Under the hood, the three-door Chevy is equipped with a Dart 406 motor and a BDS blower. The transmission was specially built for the truck by a friend in Florida, while other parts were bought from a local NAPA store.
The interior is decked out with custom gauges and upholstery designed by Dixon. The truck is also equipped with a 180-degree camera for viewing behind and to the side of the truck, since there’s an intentional lack of side-view mirrors.
In addition to receiving the NAPA Trick Truck award, Dixon earned a $100 NAPA gift certificate for tools from the on-site NAPA Tool & Equipment tent, as well as a NAPA hat, t-shirt and grease towel.
NAPA is presenting Trick Truck awards at all 24 Goodguys events with a projected annual attendance of 1.7 million.
