WIX Filters Sponsors Ryan Newman In NASCAR Whelen Modified Series

WIX Filters, a member of the Affinia Group family of brands, will sponsor Ryan Newman's No. 7 Chevrolet at two NASCAR Whelen Modified Series races in 2013.

WIX Filters, a member of the Affinia Group family of brands, will sponsor Ryan Newman’s No. 7 Chevrolet at two NASCAR Whelen Modified Series races in 2013.

As part of the sponsorship agreement with Ryan Newman Motorsports, the No. 7 car will receive WIX Filters alpha bravo paint schemes when Newman competes for GP Racing in the Town Fair Tire 100 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on July 13; NWMT Bristol at Bristol Motor Speedway on Aug. 21; and F.W. Webb 100 at New Hampshire on Sept. 21.

“I’m excited to continue my relationship with GP Racing for the three Whelen Modified Series races we have planned in New Hampshire and Bristol where I will get back in the No. 7 NY,” Newman said. “I look forward to going head-to-head with the best modified drivers in the country and am very happy to bring on board a new partner in WIX Filters.

“I do want to thank Aggressive Hydraulics for their support last season as we had a lot of fun and success racing together,” Newman added. “In addition, we will greatly miss a key member of the modified team this year in Sammy Gonzalez. Sammy lost his life after a hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer earlier this year, and he will be greatly missed on and off the track.”

Kevin “Bono” Manion, crew chief and co-owner of the No. 7 NY, added, “We are really excited to have Ryan back with us this year and the addition of a new sponsor in WIX Filters, and running a Whelen Modified means the WIX product is on the outside for everyone to see. This should be a great partnership for the season.”

“WIX is proud to extend its sponsorship with Ryan Newman to include the Whelen Modified Series,” said Mike Harvey, brand manager for WIX Filters. “Ryan Newman Motorsports has been a terrific partner since 2010, and the addition of Whelen Series races is a perfect complement to our primary sponsorship of his No. 39 car at three NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races this season.”

Newman drives the No. 39 Chevrolet for Stewart-Haas Racing in the Sprint Cup Series. WIX will be the primary on the No. 39 car at Fontana on March 24; New Hampshire on July 14; and Talladega on Oct. 20.

Modifieds are NASCAR’s oldest division of racecars. Established in 1985, the Whelen Modified Tour is one of four NASCAR-sanctioned regional touring series across the U.S.
