WIX Filters, a member of the Affinia Group family of brands, awarded $44,000 to national FFA chapters in the United States through a box-top redemption fundraising program with the National FFA Organization.

WIX Filters, a member of the Affinia Group family of brands, awarded $44,000 to national FFA chapters in the United States through a box-top redemption fundraising program with the National FFA Organization.

Between January and April 2012, students in participating FFA chapters redeemed 154,567 WIX box tops for a 25-cent donation from WIX. FFA chapters across the country were rewarded with a donation from WIX of nearly $39,000, plus five $1,000 bonuses for a total donation of $44,000.

“WIX Filters has supported the box-top program for 26 consecutive years because it allows us to contribute to the education and training of the next generation of agriculture industry leaders,” said Mike Harvey, brand manager of WIX Filters. “The funds raised through our partnership with national FFA chapters support critical chapter operations and activities, such as educational programs that have a positive impact on students’ lives.”

As part of the program’s incentives, FFA chapters across the United States competed for five $1,000 bonuses in different categories, including most box tops redeemed and most box tops redeemed per member.  The five FFA chapters that earned a $1,000 bonus in 2012 are:  East Central FFA, San Antonio, Texas; Mulberry High School FFA, Mulberry, Fla.; United High School FFA, Monmouth, Ill.; Cheney High School FFA, Spokane, Wash.; and Quinter High School FFA, Quinter, Kan.

The National FFA Organization, formerly known as Future Farmers of America, is a national youth organization of more than 540,000 student members as part of nearly 7,500 local FFA chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
