Wills Receives ASA Alpha Award

Bob Wills, owner of Wills Auto Service in Battle Creek, MI, received the Alpha Award from the Automotive Service Association (ASA) Mechanical Division. The Alpha Award recognizes an ASA Mechanical Division member for his or her generous and far-reaching contributions to the automotive service industry.

Bob Wills, owner of Wills Auto Service in Battle Creek, MI, received the Alpha Award from the Automotive Service Association (ASA) Mechanical Division May 5 at ASA’s Celebration of Excellence in Nashville, TN. The Alpha Award recognizes an ASA Mechanical Division member for his or her generous and far-reaching contributions to the automotive service industry.

Wills has served on the ASA Mechanical Division Operations Committee since 2004 and is beginning his third year as the Mechanical Division representative to the ASA Government Affairs Committee. He has also held numerous positions at both the local and state levels of ASA. Wills has spent 40 years in the industry and has owned his business for 33 years. He has been a member of ASA since 1985.

The Alpha Award was presented to Wills by Earl Dohner, AAM, ASA Mechanical Division director.

Describing Wills as “an example to be followed,” Bill Haas, who emceed the event, said: “His willingness to give countless hours of personal time and travel, sharing business and technical expertise, has been extremely valuable to both the state and national association.”

Wills has twice been recognized by the Michigan State Board of Directors as the recipient of the Al Valle Award for exemplary volunteer service – the highest award presented to a member of ASA-Michigan.

ASA’s Celebration of Excellence event was held as part of the association’s annual convention at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center. The annual awards ceremony honors the achievements of ASA members and other industry leaders. The program also included a graduation ceremony recognizing those who have earned the Automotive Management Institute’s Accredited Automotive Manager designation.

The Automotive Service Association is the largest not-for-profit trade association of its kind serving an international membership base that includes numerous affiliate, state and chapter groups from all segments of the automotive service industry. ASA’s headquarters is in Bedford, TX.
