Volvo Tech Tip: Rear Suspension Popping/Spring Noise

While driving over small road disturbances, a popping or spring noise might be heard from the rear suspension of certain S60, V70, S80 and XC90 models. This could be caused by the rear coil spring chaffing against the lower spring seat.

While driving over small road disturbances, a popping or spring noise might be heard from the rear suspension of certain S60, V70, S80 and XC90 models. This could be caused by the rear coil spring chaffing against the lower spring seat.

Affected Chassis:
• XC90 2003-’04 (000000-119869) (AWD and 2WD);
• S60 2001-’05 (000000-470972) (Not including AWD);
• V70 2001-’05 (000000-504591) (Not including AWD); and
• S80 1999-2005 (000000-409499) (Not including AWD).

If a customer should experience this condition, and the vehicle is within the chassis break, install isolator P/N 30645888 between the spring and the lower spring seat.
