Tech Tip: Sealing Volkswagen Golf Hood Seams

The following is an example of a manufacturer's TSB procedure to correct insufficient sealing of the hinge corners on the inside of new hoods for 1998-2006 Volkswagen Golf and 2006-2008 Volkswagen City Golf vehicles.

On a typical busy day in the shop, many vehicle replacement parts are needed. Too often, some of these parts may be superseded, updated, discontinued or modified by the manufacturer. Unless you have access to vital factory Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs), you may not be aware of the changes or updates concerning these parts. The result could be unnecessary, additional or incorrect repairs.

The following is an example of a manufacturer’s TSB procedure to correct insufficient sealing of the hinge corners on the inside of new hoods for 1998-2006 Volkswagen Golf and 2006-2008 Volkswagen City Golf vehicles.

NOTE: Replacement hood hinge corner seams must be sufficiently sealed prior to painting.
