Rotary Improves SmartLift Inground Lifts

Rotary Lift has improved its twin-post SmartLift inground lifts to offer technicians smoother working conditions and greater efficiency. SmartLift inground lifts are installed a quarter inch above the shop floor to help prevent water from infiltrating the lift housing. This installation had previously created a quarter inch bump that made it inconvenient for technicians to roll equipment, such as jacks or carts, over the lift.

In response to customer requests, Rotary’s engineering team redesigned the lift frame to include a formed grade angle. This angle acts like a small ramp on the front and rear of the lift, enabling technicians to more easily move equipment over the lift. To eliminate another source of interference with equipment wheels, the team has replaced the original flange-style bolts on the cover plate with flush-mount bolts. (See illustration.)

“Although these may seem like minor modifications, they add up to major improvements in what is already an industry-leading product,” says Jason Matthews, SmartLift product manager. “Technicians prefer the SmartLift inground lift because it provides excellent access to all parts of a vehicle. These changes make their job a little easier.”

Rotary SmartLift inground lifts are available in a wide range of configurations to suit most light-duty applications. Rated lift capacity ranges from 9,000 to 12,000 lbs. Two-stage arms can be equipped with three-position flip-up adapters or stackable adapters for general service. Three-stage arms offer maximum reach and retraction for working on vehicles with a short wheelbase, wide track width or low profile. Fixed pad contact and drive-on runways are often used for quick service applications. SmartLift inground lifts can even be outfitted with alignment equipment.

SmartLift inground lifts are environmentally responsible. They are entirely self-contained in a polymer composite housing made of recycled materials. This containment unit protects the environment from the lift, while also protecting the lift from the environment. A SmartLift uses less than five gallons of hydraulic fluid, compared to the 95 gallons needed by old-fashioned low-pressure inground lifts. More than 60 percent of the steel in a SmartLift inground lift is recycled.

Rotary SmartLift products feature a smaller footprint than surface lifts. This makes it possible to fit more lifts in a facility, or to build a new facility with less square footage (with a savings of up to 15 percent) and still have more room around the lift to work because there are no above-ground columns.
