As the old saying goes, time is money, so when managing a busy repair shop, it’s best to spend time on the activities that will help you make money, whether it’s keeping up with lucrative repair opportunities or finding ways to manage your business more efficiently. According to Brake & Front End magazine’s most recent survey of readers, shop owners and managers who responded to the survey said they spend the majority of their time each week on two primary tasks – managing the business and repairing vehicles.

The study also showed that the more techs there were in the shop, the more time shop owners spent managing the business. Shop owners with more than six technicians in the shop spent 45 percent of their time managing the business; while those with one or two technicians spent only 15 percent of their time managing the business.
