CARQUEST Auto Parts and MACS Announce Mobile A/C Technician of the Year Finalists

CARQUEST Auto Parts and MACS Worldwide have teamed up to find the best mobile A/C and heat transfer service technician in the United States and Canada. The first round of competition, which included an online skill assessment, recently was completed.

CARQUEST Auto Parts and MACS Worldwide have teamed up to find the best mobile A/C and heat transfer service technician in the United States and Canada. The first round of competition, which included an online skill assessment, recently was completed and the following 13 finalists were named for the final competition:

• John Amberger, Pavilion, NY;
• Darren Andersen of Smithfield, UT;
• Michael DeCosmo, Tucson, AZ;
• Tadd Huegel, Ludowici, GA;
• Robert Jacobs, Van Wert, OH;
• Tim Koester, Lackawanna, NY;
• Chris Marker, Lima, OH;
• Peter Meier, Zephyrhills, FL;
• Edward Pope, Quincy, FL;
• Chris Tate, Eden, NY;
• David Taylor, Sanford, NC;
• Gary Thomas, Harrodsburg, KY; and
• Greg Whitley, Wichita, KS.

The finals will be held Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006 at the Hendrick Motorsports facility in Concord, NC. The qualifying finalists will tackle a series of mobile A/C service tasks and diagnostic challenges. The top three qualifying competitors will be chosen at the final competition and earn a trip to the 2007 MACS Convention and Trade Show, Repair Round-Up!, to be held Feb. 1-3, 2007 in Phoenix, AZ. The CARQUEST/MACS Mobile A/C Technician of the Year will be named Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007 at the MACS Convention.

The CARQUEST/MACS Mobile A/C Technician of the Year will receive a Panasonic 42" plasma HDTV, Panasonic 1000W home theater system and the opportunity to wave the green flag as co-grand marshal, May 26, 2007 at the CARQUEST Auto Parts NASCAR Busch Series race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Charlotte, NC. The First prize runner-up will receive a Canon PowerShot 6 Megapixel Digital Camera and a Canon PIXMA Photo Printer. The Second prize runner-up will receive a Delphi XM MyFi Satellite Radio and a one-year subscription to XM Satellite Radio.
