Lancaster man sentenced for repeat burglaries

WEST CHESTER — Automotive repairs shops normally like repeat business, just not the kind that Alex James Turek gave Keesey’s Airport Automotive in Valley.

Turek, 22, of Lancaster, broke into Keesey’s shop on three different occasions — in May 2009, March 2010, and finally in April of this year — and stole small amounts of cash and car keys from the office. He used one set of keys to take a BMW for a short joy ride following his final burglary.

Already arrested, jailed and convicted in the 2010 case, Turek pleaded guilty Tuesday to the 2009 and 2011 cases and received a state sentence of three to six years in state prison. He spent 11-1/2 to 23 months in Chester County Prison for the 2010 case.

Turek’s methods of breaking into the auto shop on each occasion were similar, if not exactly the same: He would open a metal grate from a side window at the shop on West Lincoln Highway and then crawl through the window. Police said that Turek, who also had a Coatesville address in the past, is a small man — about 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a slender build — and could easily fit through the small opening.
