TRW Automotive Holdings Corp. has formed the TRW North American (NA) Aftermarket Group, designed to serve the needs of distributors and repair technicians with an extensive range of safety products.

TRW said this new NA Aftermarket Group will draw on the company’s leading original equipment (OE) position to service the needs of the independent aftermarket in North America. The formation of the new business unit is the first step in TRW serving the aftermarket with a range of braking, steering and suspension parts.

“TRW is the global leader in the design, development and manufacture of OE safety systems. We will now be translating this expertise into a leading aftermarket range and service package,” explained John Nielsen, vice president Parts and Service TRW North America. “As well as having a full services team here in the U.S., including product and application management, engineering, sales and marketing and operations and logistics, we will utilize support and expertise from TRW’s $1.2 billion global aftermarket business. Headquartered in Germany, this business has long been recognized for its product excellence, market leadership and long-standing customer relationships across Europe and Asia Pacific.

“It’s been said that the next 10 years will see the automobile evolve more than it has in the last century, as technology is called upon to do more, Nielsen added. "Throughout this transformation, TRW will remain at the forefront; creating and implementing active and passive safety systems – as well as helping our OE and aftermarket customers worldwide successfully navigate and chart a course of success with new product and technology solutions.”
