Mast Motorsports, manufacturer of high-performance engines and components for the automotive aftermarket, has announced the launch of its new Powertrain division.

Mast says it is immediately gearing up its capacity and capabilities at its company’s headquarters to provide state-of-the-art engineering, design, testing and manufacturing of powertrain products for multiple markets, including automotive, marine, motorcycle and industrial. The addition of Mast Powertrain coincides with the company’s rapid expansion.

Groundbreaking recently took place on a new 10,000-square-foot facility that will increase Mast Motorsports’ and Mast Powertrain’s capacity for R&D and engine builds.

The company noted that the same engineering team that helped Mast quickly rise to success in the high-performance market will assist in the development and production of high-performance OE products.

The all-inclusive capabilities of Mast Powertrain will include original component concepts, component sourcing, CAD design, powertrain control modules and harnesses, product testing, CNC manufacturing and final assembly for complete powertrains – both engines and transmissions. The company says this new division will work from scratch with each client to determine the best possible solutions throughout the entire engineering and manufacturing process.

Belts and Pulley Alignment

A misalignment of the plane of the belt can occur when a pulley is not parallel to the other pulleys on the belt drive system.

Drive Belt Alignment Alignment is key to the health of an engine belt. The belt drive system is designed to create friction between the grooves on the belt and pulley to transfer power from the crankshaft to the alternator, water pump or power steering pump. If the grooves on the belt do not align with the pulleys, the friction won’t be evenly applied and can result in wear and noise.
