Dayco has announced the launch of Dayco Tech Notes as the latest addition to AccessDayco.com. The company has developed and compiled technical information to help professional technicians and DIYers diagnose belt noise on some of the most demanding drives in the market.

Tech Notes are a combination of OE service bulletins, engineering vehicle analysis and interviews with professional technicians outlining solutions for noise.

Robert Christy, Dayco’s director of marketing, explains, “Noise remains one of the biggest challenges associated with belts today. Something is causing the noise and it’s not the belt. We are now offering professional technicians and DIYers real solutions to help resolve these issues. As of today, we have Tech Notes covering over 2,000 applications with more to come over the coming year. Our focus is to continue to add value to our brands through innovative support like Tech Notes.”

In addition, Dayco has also developed a Serpentine Belt Technical Video demonstrating some “tricks of the trade” when confronted with noise. All this information is now available at www.accessdayco.com.

Belts and Pulley Alignment

A misalignment of the plane of the belt can occur when a pulley is not parallel to the other pulleys on the belt drive system.

Drive Belt Alignment Alignment is key to the health of an engine belt. The belt drive system is designed to create friction between the grooves on the belt and pulley to transfer power from the crankshaft to the alternator, water pump or power steering pump. If the grooves on the belt do not align with the pulleys, the friction won’t be evenly applied and can result in wear and noise.
