As millions of people take to the roads this holiday season, leading diversified industrial company Ingersoll Rand is teaming with other corporate leaders to educate automobile owners on why nitrogen gas, when used to inflate tires, will save them hundreds of dollars each year, improve driver safety and enhance the environment.

"Ingersoll Rand Industrial Technologies is pleased to become a member of the Get Nitrogen Institute,” said Ryan Lang, portfolio manager. “As a whole, the nitrogen tire inflation industry has made great strides promoting awareness, but to this point, we have not had a true creative outlet for educating the consumer. The Get Nitrogen Institute is the ideal forum that allows the entire industry to reach out and educate the driving community with one voice that nitrogen is the best alternative for tire inflation."

The mission of the Denver-based non-profit group, Get Nitrogen Institute, is to provide information to automotive consumers and providers about the benefits of using nitrogen to inflate tires. Filling tires with nitrogen increases fuel efficiency because it allows tires to maintain proper air pressure longer. Government statistics indicate that Americans could save 3.7 billion gallons of gasoline a year by simply keeping their tires properly inflated. Completely dry and safer than air, Nitrogen helps make this possible.

Ingersoll Rand is producing nitrogen generators to be installed at many auto dealers and automotive repair shops. For more information visit the company’s website at www.irtools.com/products/nitrogen/index.asp.

To find the nearest location to fill your tires with nitrogen, visit the Get Nitrogen Institute’s webpage at www.getnitrogen.org. The website also provides more information on the benefits of using nitrogen to fill tires and scientific studies about the use of nitrogen.
