In today’s business environment, where “green is king,” almost nothing makes more sense than recycling used motor oils to generate free heat and energy. For Clean Burn (www.cleanburn.com) customers nationwide, the slogan “waste not, want not” means saving on energy bills, used fuel removal transportation fees and potential disposal liabilities.

“On-site recycling of used-oil through Clean Burn systems makes sense in so many ways,” says Michael Shirk, president and CEO of Clean Burn. “First, recycling used-oil through heat recovery systems on-site reduces the risk of spills and contamination to the environment during transporting the used-oil. Second, recycling used-oil means a Clean Burn customer places less pressure and demand on natural gas and fuel oil sources. And third, the return-on-investment of recycling used-oil brings immediate financial savings to a company on their energy bills.”

At Webster County Tractor Company in Marshfield, MO, owner Greg Larimore has been saving energy costs for more than four years with his Clean Burn 2500 unit. “We absolutely love this unit,” says Larimore. “It hasn’t missed a beat. We strain the used transmission, motor and fuel oils from the farm equipment and tractors we service into a 550-gallon tank outside that then goes into our Clean Burn furnace. From this waste material we get 100 percent free heat. You can’t beat that for helping out both the environment and our bottom line costs!”

In Wisconsin, Dave Brantmeier is equally pleased with his three Clean Burn furnaces. The owner of Vande Hey Brantmeier Automotive Group, Brantmeier has three Clean Burn units servicing his two locations in Chilton.

“We’ve used the Clean Burn furnaces to recycle used motor oils since 2001,” says Brantmeier. “Our service teams do about 450-500 automobile oil changes per month, so the used motor oil really adds up. We recycle those used motor oils into the Clean Burn units to heat our shop and service areas plus our customer drive-in area. We’re exceptionally pleased with the cost savings and the way these units help us dispose of waste motor oils in a positive and responsible way.”

As Brantmeier points out, service centers using Clean Burn systems are making an investment that benefits their companies and the environment. The Clean Burn products reduce a business’s liability related to the transportation and disposal of used motor oils.

There are 80,000 Clean Burn functional furnaces and boilers located throughout the world that burn approximately 120 million gallons of used-oils each year on-site, at the point of generation. This volume of used-oil would otherwise be transported on highway systems and pose a considerable risk to spills and/or contamination to the environment.

Clean Burn holds numerous industry certifications and works with the U.S. government, the Environmental Protection Agency and various associations to help coordinate the establishment of standards and regulations related to heat recovery and recycling efforts involving used motor oils.
