About $25,000 worth of tires was stolen over the weekend from Linder Tire Services in Iowa City, IA.

John Linder, vice president of Linder Tire Services, said the thief cut through the warehouse’s tin wall and dug a hole through the insulation and drywall. Employees discovered the theft when they opened the store Monday, he said.

About 150 tires, some of them semitrailer tires, were stolen, Linder said.

Linder has filed a report with the Iowa City Police Department, and police told him the truck used in the theft was found abandoned in Chicago.

Insurance will cover the losses, but Linder said the break-in was frustrating at the end of an already difficult year, during which the business also was flooded.
