Pennzoil Synthetics Provide Motorists With A Boost Of Fuel Savings

Just in time for peak vacation season, Pennzoil is helping motorists go further and save more at the pump. Purchases of Pennzoil Platinum or Pennzoil Ultra will save 50

Just in time for peak vacation season, Pennzoil is helping motorists go further and save more at the pump. Purchases of Pennzoil Platinum or Pennzoil Ultra will save 50¢/gal on Shell fuel through the Fuel Rewards Network (FRN) program.

Fuel economy is always important to consumers, but most are not aware that if enough deposits form in the engine, there could be a loss of 3-6% of your fuel economy [1]. The latest formulations of Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic Motor Oil are created with Superior [2] Active Cleansing Agents, keeping engines clean throughout their life, so you can drive an extra 550 miles per year on average vs. a dirty engine [3]. This is a difference that drivers will feel at the pump.

“We at Pennzoil understand how important it is to save a few dollars when fueling up your vehicle,” said Bree Sandlin, Pennzoil global brand manager. “Clean engines get more miles and our synthetic motor oils are designed to do just that by helping consumers maintain the best fuel economy possible for their vehicle while utilizing our superior cleaning technology.”

To help motorists go further for even less, Pennzoil has teamed up with the FRN program, a free loyalty program that helps consumers save money on fuel. Motorists can save 50¢/gal on Shell fuel with each five quart purchase or oil change of Pennzoil Ultra or Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic Motor Oil through the FRN program. This promotional offer runs in retail August 1st through October 31st, 2013 and September 1st through October 31st, 2013 at participating oil change locations.

Both Pennzoil Ultra and Pennzoil Platinum also clean out existing engine sludge that may have been left behind from inferior motor oils, a key to maximizing fuel economy. If an engine becomes dirty, it could reach a point where the systems put in place to keep the engine running efficiently are either compromised or shut down completely, robbing drivers of precious miles spent with their vehicles.

Belts and Pulley Alignment

A misalignment of the plane of the belt can occur when a pulley is not parallel to the other pulleys on the belt drive system.

Drive Belt Alignment Alignment is key to the health of an engine belt. The belt drive system is designed to create friction between the grooves on the belt and pulley to transfer power from the crankshaft to the alternator, water pump or power steering pump. If the grooves on the belt do not align with the pulleys, the friction won’t be evenly applied and can result in wear and noise.
