Deciphering Engine Misfire Codes

When the fuel/air mixture ignites, many factors must be met to pass a misfire monitor.

Misfires can be one of the most ambiguous codes. The cause of the misfire could be a fuel, spark or mechanical issue. Is a misfire when the cylinder does not fire? Some misfire complaints are a flashing check engine light, and a P0300 to P0312 diagnostic trouble code (DTC) indicates that one or more cylinders are misfiring.
