Matco Tools Expands Diagnostic Family With Two New Products

As part of Matco Tools' mission to continue providing the most innovative tools on the market, the company announced at its distributor expo that it will be expanding its growing line of diagnostic products with the launch of Maximus 2.0 and maxGO.

As part of Matco Tools’ mission to continue providing the most innovative tools on the market, the company announced at its distributor expo that it will be expanding its growing line of diagnostic products with the launch of Maximus 2.0 and maxGO. Both open Android operating system tablets provide similar features to the original Maximus tablet, along with a new, thinner design. Additionally, technology upgrades make diagnostic work faster and easier, including being built to IP65 specifications, which means that not only are the new tablets dustproof and droppable, they are actually waterproof, withstanding a stream of water from all directions.

“As technology continues to advance, we want to make sure we are integrating the latest and greatest into our products,” said Kimber Fabrick, diagnostics product manager for Matco Tools. “By expanding our diagnostics line we, are providing more options for technicians to choose from based on their specific needs.”

Maximus 2.0 provides a true tablet experience, complete with industry-leading features that provide solutions for even the most complex jobs. Featuring a 10.1-inch high-resolution, capacitive touch screen, and front and rear cameras, Maximus 2.0 has the ability to capture still photos and videos, as well as load any third-party app available for the Android operating system. With Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities, the integrated one-click updates are easier than ever. Maximus 2.0 also works seamlessly with all current Maximus add-on modules and includes a true docking station that includes VGA, Ethernet, two USB ports, audio out and integrated connector storage.

The addition of maxGO to the Matco Tools diagnostic line provides technicians with a more portable solution for everyday projects. Much like Maximus 2.0, maxGO includes the ability to install any third-party app available for the Android operating system, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities, and built-in rear and front cameras with still photo and video capability. The maxGO’s 8-inch capacitive touch screen and hand-held design make storage and travel easy, while providing all of the diagnostic features a technician would need for daily tasks in the shop.

In expanding its diagnostic family, Matco focused on making Maximus 2.0 and maxGO “total life” tools, allowing for easy transition from the shop to the home. The two new products provide more options, allowing technicians to choose the product that works best for them.

Maximus 2.0 (model number MDMAX2) and maxGO (MDMAXGO) will be available exclusively from Matco Tools starting on March 10, 2014. To locate a distributor in your area or for more information on the product, call 1-866-289-8665 or visit www.matcotools.com.

OBDII Connectors

OBDII connectors serve as the main communication point between the technician and the vehicle.

The OBDII connector is more than 25 years old, and many technicians now take this port for granted. For more than two decades the Diagnostic Logic Connector (DLC) has remained largely the same. It is more than just the location a scan tool plugs into. It is the access point which allows technicians to “talk” to the vehicle.
