Federal -Mogul Aftermarket group awarded "2004 Vendor of the Year".

The Federal-Mogul Aftermarket group was recently awarded the 2004 Vendor of the Year Award from Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance, Federal-Mogul’s largest aftermarket customer. Federal-Mogul also was honored with awards for Outstanding Marketing Support, Outstanding Manpower Support and Outstanding Website.

Additionally, Federal-Mogul was recognized for Outstanding Shipping Performance for the following brands: Anco, Champion, Fel-Pro, Precision and Wagner Lighting.

Corteco Announces Sweepstakes Winner
During the aftermarket industry’s annual AAPEX trade show in November, Edelbrock teamed up with Corteco to give away the first of two 410 HP Chevy small-block performance engines, sealed exclusively by Corteco, and valued at more than $6,900.

Vic Edelbrock did the honors at the Corteco booth and drew the name of Shane Leist of Rockwell City, IA, from among entries submitted at races, automotive jobbers and retailers, and the www.installCorteco.com website. “The contest has been a great success thus far,” said Pat Lynch, Corteco manager of product marketing. The second Edelbrock engine was given away at the PRI Show in Indianapolis on Dec. 10.

Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance Makes $100,000 Contribution
Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance recognized Northwood University’s commitment to automotive aftermarket education by making a $100,000 contribution to the Northwood University Aftermarket Education Building Fund.

Alliance President and CEO Richard Morgan presented Northwood University President and CEO Dr. David Fry with the check at the Alliance annual member meeting in Boca Raton, Florida, on Dec. 7, where Fry addressed Alliance members and vendors on higher education in the automotive aftermarket.

SKF Signs Multi-Year Contract With Richard Childress Racing
SKF recently announced the expansion of its NASCAR NEXTEL Cup involvement, signing a multi-year sponsorship agreement with Richard Childress Racing (RCR). With the start of the 2005 NASCAR season, SKF will hold sponsorship positions on the No. 07 of Dave Blaney, the No. 29 of Kevin Harvick and the No. 31 of Jeff Burton. Additionally, the agreement includes a technical partnership between RCR and SKF engineers. Both parties will communicate worldwide to develop new technologies focused on building upon RCR’s racing performance, as well as new products intended to increase the safety and performance of consumer vehicles.

Delphi Announces Personnel Changes
Delphi Corp announced the following organizational changes for Delphi Product & Service Solutions, Delphi’s aftermarket and consumer products division.

Russell W. H. Bailey, managing director, Delphi Integrated Service Solutions is retiring after more than 36 years of experience in the automotive aftermarket.

Mark Theriot, currently director, global service technologies, replaces Bailey as managing director, Delphi Integrated Service Solutions, in addition to maintaining his current responsibilities.

Gary Abusamra was named director, engineering & quality. Abusamra, previously chief engineer, Engine Management Systems (EMS) for Delphi’s Energy & Chassis Division, and replaces Dominic Seto who was recently named managing director, Asia Pacific.

Mark Shasteen was named director, global manufacturing. In his new position, Shasteen will focus on global manufacturing and remanufacturing initiatives specific to the needs of Delphi’s OE service and aftermarket customers.

Federal-Mogul to Give Away Classic El Camino
The Federal-Mogul Technical Education Center (TEC) will award a 1966 Chevrolet El Camino SS with a “numbers-matching” engine and rare package of factory options to an engine rebuilder, professional technician or parts counterperson through the 2005 Federal-Mogul Training Excellence Sweepstakes.

Any qualified aftermarket professional may enter the sweepstakes by enrolling in a 2005 TEC training workshop or field clinic, or by contacting TEC for course information. There is no entry fee or enrollment requirement.

Federal-Mogul TEC, based in St. Louis, MO, operates one of the automotive service industry’s professional education programs. The program has received Continuing Automotive Service Education (CASE) accreditation from ASE. Each TEC course is taught by ASE-certified Master technicians.
