The WD-40 Specialist/SEMA Cares Foose Ford F-350 made its final stop around the country on Wednesday, Jan. 15, and received a winning bid of $200,000 at the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction, with all proceeds benefiting Childhelp, Victory Junction and the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund.

The custom 2012 Ford Super Duty work truck, designed by legendary hot rod designer Chip Foose, includes Foose-inspired front and rear wheel flares and custom bodywork, among other upgrades. After its successful debut at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, the custom truck appeared at events throughout California, New Mexico, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois and Tennessee. The work truck represents the new WD-40 Specialist line of products designed to help skilled trade professionals get their specific jobs done with ease.

The winning bid came from Bill Barker of Fort Worth, Texas, who was able to meet with WD-40 Co. and charity representatives after placing the winning bid.

“I’ve been blessed,” Barker said. “For me, it wasn’t just about the truck – it was for charity and it was something I felt I needed to do.”

WD-40 Co. and SEMA Cares, the charity arm of the Specialty Equipment Market Association, partnered with a number of aftermarket companies that donated parts, equipment and services to the project. Leading manufacturers and other companies that chipped in to build and promote the vehicle include: Foose Design, Ford, LGE*CTS Motorsports, Source Interlink Media, Icon Vehicle Dynamics, DynaTrac, BFGoodrich, Magnaflow, Takit, Husky Liners, LEER, Katzkin, Pro Comp, Polk Audio, Audio Innovations and PowerBass.

“We believe in creating positive lasting memories, and this is a memory that we, as a company, will never forget,” said Tim Lesmeister, vice president of marketing for WD-40 Co. “We, along with our outstanding build partners, are overwhelmed by the generosity of Bill Barker, and know that this money will truly make a positive impact in the lives of these kids who really need it.”

This is the fifth WD-40/SEMA Cares vehicle that has been auctioned to benefit SEMA Cares charities, lifting the total amount of money raised to more than $775,000.
