Thexton Anti-Freeze and Battery Testers Named ‘Tools of the Month’

Thexton's Cold-Chek and Charg-Chek Anti-Freeze and Battery Testers were the first accurate and inexpensive specific gravity testers when they were introduced in 1964. Now, more than 40 years later, they are Thexton's latest 'Tools of the Month.'

Thexton’s Cold-Chek and Charg-Chek Anti-Freeze and Battery Testers were the first accurate and inexpensive specific gravity testers when they were introduced in 1964. Now, more than 40 years later, they are Thexton’s latest "Tools of the Month."

"Back in the ’60s, Thexton pioneered the idea of formulating floating beads that compensated for the temperature of the coolant," said Thexton’s vice president of research and development, Dennis Harder. "Cold-Chek worked, hot or cold."

Harder added that the Cold-Chek reputation was built on pocket-size coolant testers like the No. 100, 101, 102 and the large professional testers No. 106 for ethylene glycol and the No. 107 for propylene glycol.

Thexton has added an optical refractometer and a pair of swing-type testers to the line. The Cold-Chek/Charg-Chek Refractometer, No. 105, accurately reads ethylene glycol, propylene glycol and battery electrolyte. According to Harder, OEM cooling system service and warranty work may require technicians to make very precise readings and that means an accurate refractometer. Thexton has also added the Cold-Chek Swing-Type Anti-Freeze Tester, No. 103, and Charg-Chek Swing-Type Battery Tester, No. 116.

Cold-Chek and Charg-Chek Testers are part of more than 100 tools, testers and repair kits Thexton Manufacturing Company has in its line. For more information, visit Thexton’s website at thextontools.com.
