From May 1 through December 31, 2010, professional technicians who purchase qualifying Bendix products will not only be offering their customers  high quality brake pads and shoes, they will also be outfitting their shops with high-quality, premium-branded shop items.

At three different times throughout the year, the Bendix brand will reward its technician customers with some of its most popular shop items – like counter stools, brake cabinets and trash barrels.

• May 1 – August 31, 2010: Shops that purchase $400 worth of qualifying Bendix premium disc pads and/or shoes will receive a Bendix-branded cabinet.

• July 1 – October 31, 2010: Shops that purchase $300 worth of qualifying Bendix premium disc pads and/or shoes will receive a Bendix-branded counter stool.

• September 1 – December 31, 2010: Shops that purchase $200 worth of qualifying Bendix premium disc pads and/or shoes will receive a Bendix-branded trash barrel.

Professional technicians interested in participating in the promotion should contact their Bendix distributor or local sales representative.  Qualifying disc pads and shoes are: Bendix CQ, Bendix TitaniuMetallic II, Bendix IQ, Bendix CT-3, Bendix Fleet MetLok and Bendix premium brake shoes. Professional technicians that use Bendix products, such as the CT-3 and TitaniuMetallic II brake pads, are giving their customers premium friction products and helping keep them safe on the road.

Bendix CT-3 ceramic brake pads are specifically formulated to offer superior performance compared to semi-metallic disc pads. The premium raw materials used in the CT-3 pads help eliminate noise and reduce dusting. The TitaniuMetallic II pads provide unmatched braking performance right out of the box by virtually eliminating the need for the traditional break-in period. Instead of the traditional 200 stops, the TitaniuMetallic II coating wears away after approximately 50 stops, leaving a premium quality Bendix semi-metallic brake pad that provides miles of outstanding performance.

“Our premium branded items are always a hit with our customers,” said Jim Kelley, director of sales, North America for Friction Materials LLC. “This promotion is a great way to offer them the high quality items needed for their shop.”

Distributors and shop customers interested in learning more should contact their Friction Materials sales representative or email [email protected].

Long-Life Coolants Explained

Different types of coolants cover a range of applications from diesel to domestic, Asian and European vehicles. Each one is formulated to a specific manufacturer’s specifications to keep their engines at an optimal temperature. But, changes to the old one-size-fits-all formula has led to confusion for consumers and even some technicians.

Diagnosing Intelligent Cooling Systems

The majority of cooling systems on the roads react to what is happening inside the combustion chamber. After the engine is stressed, the heat causes the thermostat to open. Increases in temperatures will also cause the cooling fans to come on. The heat carried by the coolant is the trigger for operation of the fans and thermostat.

Modern Cooling System Design: It’s Not About Temperature; It’s About Powertrain

Given the advanced state of internal combustion engine technology, some recent cooling system innovations will actually increase engine torque and fuel economy while reducing exhaust emissions. Let me simplify that idea: new cooling system technology will make engines run better and cleaner. So, let’s get on the same page by reviewing some basics.
