Modesto Auto Repair Shop All Abuzz with Bees

The employees of J & L Complete Automotive Repair in Modesto came back to work Monday abuzz about a new development.

A swarm of some 30,000 to 40,000 bees had made a home in one of the small potted trees outside the shop’s entrance over Easter weekend.

Sparky VanOstrand, the company’s president, said he was worried for the safety of his employees and customers. But instead of calling an exterminator to get rid of the swarm, he called a beekeeper.
