NEW ALBANY, IN (WAVE) – A mechanic was killed Friday afternoon in a workplace accident at a New Albany garage when the truck he was working on rolled backwards and fell off the hydraulic lift.

According to Chief Todd Bailey of the New Albany Police, the accident happened around 4 p.m. at Ace Automotive at 834 E. 8th Street while an employee, now identified as 55-year-old Ronnie Cobb, Jr. of New Albany, was working on a vehicle.

Dr. Leslie Knable, the Floyd County Coroner, said Cobb died from the injuries he suffered when the truck fell.

"I just want to send out my condolences to his friends and family. I’m very sorry this happened, and I hate it. It just makes me sick to my stomach," Ace Automotive owner Allen Edmonson told WAVE 3.
