STP Becomes Title Sponsor of Grassroots Drag Race Programs at Infineon Raceway

Infineon Raceway (Sonoma, CA) and Armored AutoGroup, owner of STP and Armor All brands, have entered into a multi-year relationship that will make the Danbury, CT-based company the title sponsor of the raceway's highly-popular grassroots drag racing programs.

Infineon Raceway (Sonoma, CA) and Armored AutoGroup, owner of STP and Armor All brands, have entered into a multi-year relationship that will make the Danbury, CT-based company the title sponsor of the raceway’s highly-popular grassroots drag racing programs.
 
STP will become the title sponsor of the “STP Wednesday Night Drags,” as well as the raceway’s “STP ET Bracket Drags” programs.
 
The STP Wednesday Night Drags enters its 23rd year in 2011 and gives area racers the ability to drag race on Infineon Raceway’s lightning quick quarter-mile. The program runs March through mid-November and features up to 300 competitors weekly. It is arguably the top grassroots weekly drag racing program on the West Coast.
 
The raceway will also feature 12 STP ET Bracket Drags events during the 2011 season. The partnership furthers STP’s commitment to building its presence within motorsports. The brand is currently a sponsor of Tony Pedregon’s Nitro Funny Car on the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series and continues its presence in World of Outlaws, in addition to recently announcing multiple NASCAR series race and track sponsorships.
 
“Since our initial sponsorship with Richard Petty almost 40 years ago, we’ve understood the power of racing and the ability to connect with our consumers through the sport,” said Dave Lundstedt, CEO of Armored AutoGroup Inc. “We are excited to be continuing that relationship with the fans and adding another chapter to our storied racing history with a diverse stable of sponsorships.”
 
“STP is one of the most iconic brands in our sport and one that fans have always associated with exciting competition and great championships,” said Steve Page, president and general manager of Infineon Raceway.  “We’re very proud to attach the STP brand to a program with such deep roots in the Northern California drag racing community.”
 
In addition, STP becomes an “Official Partner of Infineon Raceway” and will receive season-long signage at the Sonoma Valley facility. The raceway and STP will also combine on several social network promotions and STP will have exclusive branding rights to the Infineon Raceway drag racing page on Facebook.
