Standard Motor Products Inc. (SMP) has selected the winners of its Intermotor Import Leader Automotive Scholarship Contest. Froylin Flores of Grandview, Washington, and Cody Whitten of Clearfield, Utah, will each receive $5,000 for their continuing automotive education.
Flores and Whitten were chosen from a field of more than 425 student applicants from 41 states. Each applicant had to submit a current photograph and answers to an online questionnaire to be eligible to win. Intermotor appointed an independent judge to evaluate applicants’ answers based on relevance, creativity and thoughtfulness relating to the automotive import industry.
“SMP is proud to recognize up-and-coming technicians who exemplify Intermotor’s quest for import excellence,” said Phil Hutchens, vice president engine management marketing, SMP. “Investing in the future of the industry through our scholarship programs is one of the most rewarding and important parts of our business.”
