Phony ALI Approvals Showing Up on Lifts

The Automotive Lift Institute has found counterfeit lifts being sold in the U.K. and warn that more such cases are popping up in the U.S. and Canada. The U.K. lifts in question carry a phony ALI approval mark, but in fact have never been examined, tested or approved, ALI said.

The Automotive Lift Institute has found counterfeit lifts being sold in the U.K. and warn that more such cases are popping up in the U.S. and Canada.

The U.K. lifts in question carry a phony ALI approval mark, but in fact have never been examined, tested or approved, ALI said.

The counterfeits were manufactured by Qingdao Jinhua Industrial Group in China, and were distributed by Dunlop Garage Equipment of Northampton, U.K.

According to the ALI President R. W. O’Gorman, “neither Qingdao Jinhua Industrial Group nor Dunlop Garage Equipment is authorized to depict this model as ALI approved.”

O’Gorman indicated other instances of counterfeit compliance by this offshore manufacturer are beginning to appear in the U.S. and Canadian markets.  Examples of such products can be found by visiting “Buyer Beware” at autolift.org.
