Edmond auto center to provide free car inspections to seniors

EDMOND Senior adults have the opportunity to bring their cars in for a free service inspection from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 12.
The Edmond Senior Center’s fifth annual Car Maintenance and Safety Inspection for senior adults is provided by Kwik Kar Auto Center of Edmond. Kwik Kar also sponsors the center’s Volunteer of the Month program.
Sue Perry, the center’s director, said this is an important service for seniors.
"It’s been helpful because we (the state) no longer do car inspections. That’s no longer required. So this helps a lot of our older adults maintain their cars, and if there is anything wrong like a headlight out or something malfunctioning on the car it can be discovered and fixed,” she said.
The free inspection includes headlights, brake lights and tail lights as well as wiper blades, air filters and belts. The battery, fluid levels, coolants, oil leaks, brake pads, CV boots, cabin air filters, fuel filters and the fuel cleaning system also will be checked.
"Once they have a list of any deficiencies, then the car owner can take them to be repaired,” Perry said.
Inspections will be in the baseball parking lot east of the senior center in J.L. Mitch Park, 2733 Marilyn Williams Drive.
