NHRA Drivers Ride To Victory On DENSO Spark Plugs In Las Vegas

To celebrate the season, DENSO has launched a DENSO2WIN NHRA Sweepstakes for the chance to win an exclusive trip for two to the NHRA Finals, Nov. 10-13, Pomona, Calif. The prize includes roundtrip airfare from anywhere in the continental U.S., a 3-day, 4-night hotel stay, tickets to the 2016 NHRA Finals, and VIP access to the NHRA drivers.

DENSO spark plugs powered two winning Pro Stock drivers across the finish line at the 17th annual DENSO Spark Plugs NHRA Nationals. An estimated 18,000 fans filled the venue both Saturday and Sunday to witness the action-packed drag races, held April 1-3 at The Strip at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

After multiple qualifying and elimination rounds, Jason Line raced his Summit Racing Equipment Chevy Camaro to victory by covering the 1,000-foot strip in 6.712 seconds at 206.32 mph in Sunday’s final. With 463 cumulative points, Line leads the Pro Stock roster after the fourth event in the 2016 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series.

Also racing on DENSO spark plugs, Summit Racing Equipment teammate Greg Anderson reached the last Pro Stock elimination round Sunday in his Chevy Camaro, ending his streak in 6.755 seconds at 205.88 mph for an overall third place finish. Along the way, Anderson picked up a $50,000 check by winning the Pro Stock K&N Horsepower Challenge in Saturday’s last race. With 415 points to date, Anderson now ranks second only to Line among the top 10 drivers.

“DENSO spark plugs delivered in the heat of competition, just as they do on the road for millions of motorists every day,” said Fran Labun, vice president of sales for DENSO Products and Services Americas, Inc., who represented DENSO as the honorary starter for the event. “We are proud to support this year’s NHRA Mello Yello Series, and we congratulate Jason Line and Greg Anderson along with all the winning teams on their success this past weekend.”
