News: ISN Show Draws Record Crowd

Orlando, FL — The ISN 2008 Tool Dealer Expo was held in Orlando, FL, June 27 and 28 at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. The event attracted 190 suppliers, and nearly 700 tool and equipment distributors. Guests spent the two days visiting with manufacturers, learning about the latest and greatest new products to hit the market, and taking advantage of special pricing and offers from ISN.

One of the busiest and most exciting stops on the show floor was the Ingersoll Rand booth, which featured the entire offering of pneumatic and cordless tools by the manufacturer. In addition, there was an interactive video game area, a chance to meet NASCAR phenom Boris Said, and a gorgeous crystal red 2008 Chevrolet Corvette, which was given away to a lucky show attendee.

Customers had opportunities to take advantage of numerous incentives such as instant cash rebates and tool giveaways and prize giveaways. Makita USA gave away four mini-fridges tricked out with #4 Ricky Carmichael designs as well as a 46” flat screen TV. There were several large prizes including a 1972 Chevrolet Corvette valued at $40,000; a 2008 Suzuki Motorcycle and a 2008 Yamaha Watercraft and trailer — all sponsored by ISN.

ISN’s team of 120 customer service and sales team members were on hand to help distributors with their needs. A real-time order processing system provided distributor customers with a way to keep track of their spending at the show. This allowed them to make smart buying decisions and take advantage of the many special discounts and incentives.

ISN presented awards to vendors for outstanding performance. Winners are listed below:

Most Orders in Highest Sales Volume: Ingersoll Rand

Most Orders Written: GearWrench-Danaher Tool Company

JDI Announces Major Warehouse Expansion
Barberton, OH — Joe Dease, president of JohnDow Industries, announced the company’s most recently completed warehouse expansion project at its Barberton, OH, headquarters.

A 68,000-sq.-ft. warehouse addition was completed at a cost of $1.5 million in late March 2008. This expansion grows the JDI warehouse capabilities to a total of 121,000 sq. ft. of space.

“Double-digit sales increases during the last few years created a need to expand our capabilities to better serve our customers and allow for future growth,” Dease said, explaining that much of the recent sales growth occurred in the Fuel Chief and EuroVent lines.

“Required expansion like this is fairly unusual in our industry given the current tough environment,” said Mark Pfleeger, vice president of sales. “Most companies are experiencing a reduction or leveling off of sales…at JDI, we are growing, excited and very optimistic about our future.”

In 2008, JDI instituted an aggressive “Brands To Build On” marketing campaign to educate the industry concerning its product offerings and how all five of its newly defined product lines complement each other.

Clean Burn Named ENERGY STAR Partner
Leola, PA — Clean Burn, manufacturers of energy systems that transform used motor oil into free heat, has become an ENERGY STAR partner. During testing, the company’s CB-200-CTB (coil tube boiler), met ENERGY STAR guidelines for boilers and has now earned the ENERGY STAR designation.

“Everything we do at Clean Burn is focused on energy,” according to Michael Shirk, president and CEO. “Qualifying for the ENERGY STAR designation is another visual sign that Clean Burn products are ideally suited for use in safely and efficiently disposing of used motor oil.

“The CB-200-CTB boiler has a 200,000 BTU input per hour. This unit is an economical workhorse. It can recycle 1.4 gallons of used motor oil per hour and provides a free fuel source to generate hot water. That water can be used in a wide variety of applications, such as ice melt, heating of baseboards, in-floor and shop space, or in car wash facilities.”

“Our products are already backed by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and meet all Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements for used-oil recycling,” says Shirk. “We’re proud to now add the ENERGY STAR designation to our CB-200-CTB. With our ENERGY STAR qualified coil tube boiler, businesses can turn used motor oil into a newfound energy source.”
