New Rislone Oil Treatment Keeps Engines Running Longer and Stronger

New and improved Rislone 710 High-Performance Oil Treatment increases oil pressure and power, quieting noisy engines and lifters in high-mileage vehicles. To draw more consumer attention on the shelf, Rislone 710 Oil Treatment is packaged in a retro-style can.

Rislone 710 Oil Treatment is a high-viscosity formula that increases oil film thickness, building a thicker oil cushion that increases oil pressure to enable a worn engine to produce more power and run quieter. It also protects against further engine wear by cushioning and coating engine parts to reduce friction and prevent metal-to-metal contact between moving parts.

“Rislone products have been improving engine performance for almost 90 years,” says Clay Parks, vice president of development for Bar’s Products, manufacturer of Rislone. “Our latest product improvement, 710 Oil Treatment, now includes high-performance VI Viscosity Improver, to ensure that the Oil Treatment works great in both hot and cold weather.”

Rislone 710 High-Performance Oil Treatment works with all gasoline and diesel engines using conventional, high-mileage and synthetic oil. It can be installed in any car, truck, van or SUV with a 4-, 6-, or 8-cylinder engine. Add 710 Oil Treatment at any time for immediate results, at or between oil changes.

The product number for Rislone High-Performance Oil Treatment is 4471. So where does “710” come from?

“Look at the label closely,” explains Parks. “710 is ‘OIL,’ upside down!”

Rislone 710 High-Performance Oil Treatment is available to distribution in case packs of 12 cans. Each can treats four to five quarts of oil. Like all Rislone products, Rislone 710 High-Performance Oil Treatment is made in the U.S.A. The label includes directions in both English and Spanish.

Transmission fluid likes to be at a constant temperature. If it is too hot or too cold for too long, the performance can fluctuate and potentially cause damage to the transmission.
If the fluid is at a constant temperature, it behaves in a consistent manner in terms of its friction and lubrication properties. What can help control the temperature is the transmission cooling circuit.
The path of the fluid in the transmission lines is not as much about the destination as the journey. The size and length of the transmission lines, along with the size of the cooler, controls the temperature of the fluid. Also, the size of the engine and weight of the vehicle can determine the design of the transmission fluid cooling circuit.
Another thing to consider is how a modified transmission with a larger transmission cooling circuit might do more damage than good. On modern vehicles, the cooling circuit is designed to manage the fluid temperatures during startup. If the fluid can’t warm up quickly due to the increased volume, damage to the transmission friction surfaces can occur. The same goes for a bypassed cooling circuit. Why? Because fluid that is too hot can damage friction surfaces.

BMW Tech Tip: Oil Separator Replacement

A clogged oil separator valve is a common problem on many BMW DOHC inline sixes. The high failure rate is caused by sludge build-up that can result in oil burning, rough idle and engine fault codes. Although the solution is pretty simple, replacing the valve is labor intensive and can take anywhere from six to nine hours.

Oil Bath Air Filters

Long before people started using cotton gauze air filters soaked in oil, the oil bath air filter was the dominant filter on the market. The filter removes debris in the air by running it over oil and a mesh element. These filters worked great when most roads were dirt, but they could be messy to clean.

The MIL comes on with one of these DTCS: P3400 (VPS Stuck Off Bank 1) or P3497 (VPS Stuck Off Bank 2). This may be the result of the front and/or rear rocker arm oil pressure switch intermittently failing.
