NASCAR Technical Institute Celebrates ’10 Years Of Starting Careers’

NASCAR Technical Institute (NASCAR Tech) is celebrating "10 years of starting careers" as the exclusive educational partner of NASCAR and the first and only technical school in the world to offer a specific NASCAR-developed curriculum for those interested in motorsports and/or automotive service careers.

NASCAR Tech is hosting a North Carolina Pit Party from 6:30-8:30 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, Aug. 6, at its 146,000-square-foot campus in Mooresville, N.C. U.S. Representative Robert Pittenger (R-N.C. 9th District) will join senior management and other dignitaries from NASCAR and Universal Technical Institute (UTI) in presenting a decade of accomplishments and celebrating the school’s more than 5,000 graduates who are successfully employed in the automotive and motorsports industries.

NASCAR Tech was forged out of a unique partnership between UTI and NASCAR to develop a curriculum that provides new generations of technicians to serve NASCAR motorsports and automotive services industries. In addition to the NASCAR-specific programs, the campus offers specialized classes developed by Ford Motor Co. and Nissan Motor Co. and is proud to claim that four out of five graduates from NASCAR Tech find employment in careers within their field of study.

NASCAR Tech is one of 11 campuses operated by UTI, the leading provider of post-secondary education for students seeking careers as professional technicians in the automotive, diesel, collision repair, motorcycle, marine and motorsports industries. At the 10-year celebration, guests will have a chance to meet some of the star drivers from NASCAR and get an up-close look at a few of the actual race cars that run every Sunday in the NASCAR Sprint Cup series.

In 2008, the campus started a program that lets NASCAR Tech students actually build engines used in NASCAR racing. About 100 students per year with excellent grades, attendance and professionalism scores participate in the program, which is sponsored by K&N Filters. Last year, Kyle Larson driving for Rev Racing, NASCAR’s "Drive for Diversity Team," won the K&N Pro Series Championship with NASCAR Tech, student-built engines. This is a testament to the level of training NASCAR Tech students receive and how prepared they are for careers in motorsports after graduation.
