MACS Offers Two New Training Clinics

The training of technicians in the proper service and repair of mobile air conditioning systems is at the heart of the Mobile Air Conditioning Society's (MACS) Worldwide mission. MACS offers two new training clinic curriculums for 2011; Mobile A/C System Temperature Testing and the 2011 Mobile A/C Update Clinic.

The training of technicians in the proper service and repair of mobile air conditioning systems is at the heart of the Mobile Air Conditioning Society’s (MACS) Worldwide mission. MACS offers two new training clinic curriculums for 2011; Mobile A/C System Temperature Testing and the 2011 Mobile A/C Update Clinic.

In the new Mobile A/C System Temperature Testing class, attendees will learn how to use temperature readings taken at various locations throughout an A/C system, to pinpoint problems. This in-depth program was developed by placing “bugs” in systems (both orifice tube and expansion valve) that simulate often-encountered real world situations. All “normal/good” and “abnormal/bugged” conditions were photographically documented. The “results” of the bugs, when matched up with the temperature readings taken, show how things like under/over charge, internal restrictions, blocked cabin air filters and condensers, and other improper conditions, affect A/C system performance and operation. Armed with the knowledge from this program, when confronted with similar circumstances in the field, technicians will have a good understanding concerning how to proceed with authoritative diagnosis and effective repair.

The 2011 Mobile A/C Update Clinic is an annual collection of the newest cutting edge service and repair information available to the working technician. Topics to be covered for 2011 include:
• Case studies – lessons learned;
• Compressors without pistons – an in-depth report;
• Electrical troubleshooting tips;
• Engine coolant update (And It’s a Big One!);
• Scanning and flashing GM vehicles;
• Those “Weird” alternator pulleys;
• What’s happening with the new refrigerant;
• Working on hybrid HVAC systems; and
• Other MVAC repair related topics will also be covered.

MACS trains on-demand at the request of interested repair facilities, and will hold a limited number of scheduled classes around the country and in Montreal and Toronto Canada in 2011. Please visit the online training calendar at www.macsw.org  under the training topic  for the most current list of scheduled clinics.
