The board of directors of the International Mobile Air Conditioning Association Educational Foundation (IMACA) has voted to discontinue and transfer their EPA approved Section 609 refrigerant recovery and recycling certification program to the Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS) Worldwide-Educational Institute Foundation (EIF). The transition is in progress and will be completed by the end of 2005. All 450,000 records of IMACA certified technicians have been transferred and all new certification testing and re-issuing of credentials will be handled by MACS Worldwide going forward. MACS Worldwide may be contacted by phone at (215) 631-7020, by fax (215) 631-7017, by e-mail at [email protected] and at www.macsw.org.

“IMACA has made major contributions to the mobile air conditioning industry throughout their 44-year history especially in their support of educational programs,” remarked Michael Deese, MACS chairman and CEO. “MACS is honored and proud to continue the IMACA legacy of industry education in promoting professional mobile air conditioning service and repair.”

IMACA, in addition to providing Section 609 certification services, has through its educational foundation bestowed several hundred thousand dollars in grants to schools and technical colleges to further education in the mobile A/C industry.
