The board of directors of the International Mobile Air Conditioning Association Educational Foundation (IMACA) has voted to discontinue and transfer their EPA approved Section 609 refrigerant recovery and recycling certification program to the Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS) Worldwide-Educational Institute Foundation (EIF). The transition is in progress and will be completed by the end of 2005. All 450,000 records of IMACA certified technicians have been transferred and all new certification testing and re-issuing of credentials will be handled by MACS Worldwide going forward. IMACA, in addition to providing Section 609 certification services, has through its educational foundation bestowed several hundred thousand dollars in grants to schools and technical colleges to further education in the mobile A/C industry.
