GREN Brake Rotors Meet or Exceed Vehicle Specifications

All GREN rotors are finished to meet or exceed OEM specifications. A mirror-like, smooth braking surface is created from precision machining that guarantees the proper roughness coherence required. The desired "non-directional swirl finish" that is added greatly reduces problems of scraping noises that customers often have to endure during the "break-in" period.

The number one culprit of customer dissatisfaction and comebacks is the rotor’s out of specification lateral runout. This problem results in a pulsating brake pedal and vibration, which becomes very noticeable to the driver.

In terms of safety, a brake rotor with more than 0.005" (0.10mm) lateral runout value is suggested to be replaced, or at least be re-machined before installation. In practice, OEM specifications require 0.001" to 0.003" runout variance. GREN’s acceptable lateral runout is maintained at less than 0.002".

Cast Iron Quality – (SAE J431, Grade 3000)

Superior gray iron casting for GREN rotors:

  • Scientific molten iron composition with alloy additions ensures higher mechanical strength and fracture toughness that meets OEM specifications.
  • Pouring temperature, feed rate and cooling of each batch of castings are subjected to rigorously controlled specifications at the foundry.

"Soft" rotor castings are the normal results from inferior cast iron quality and after months or thousands of miles, it often ends in customer complaints of rapid rotor wear. The invisible cast-iron flaws in the cast iron can also become "hot spots" on the braking surface, which causes rapid brake lining wear, hard pedal and noises.

Precise Fit Dimensions
Inconsistent rotor thickness cannot maintain equal distance between pads and braking surface which causes insufficient "rub" contact. Drivers will feel pedal pulsations, experience excessive pedal travel, chattering and front-end vibration when brakes are applied.

Every GREN rotor is produced on Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) manufacturing equipment. 100% dimensional inspection assures GREN rotors meet or exceed vehicle specifications. Inspections are conducted during each phase of manufacturing to maintain GREN’s quality consistency. This guarantees successful installation and assures superior braking performance.

Final Finish
All GREN rotors are finished to meet or exceed OEM specifications. A mirror-like, smooth braking surface is created from precision machining that guarantees the proper roughness coherence required. The desired "non-directional swirl finish" that is added greatly reduces problems of scraping noises that customers often have to endure during the "break-in" period.

Balanced, cleaned, dried and treated with an environmentally friendly rust inhibitor, GREN rotors make your installation easier, cleaner, and time and cost effective. No extra machining – no extra cleaning – straight from the "carton to the car."
