Four Seasons Honored With Most Innovative New Product Award At MACS Show

Four Seasons was recently honored with the "Most Innovative New Product" award for its Deslugger compressor clutch timer during the 2014 Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS) Worldwide Training Event and Trade Show, held in New Orleans, La.

Four Seasons was recently honored with the “Most Innovative New Product” award for its Deslugger compressor clutch timer during the 2014 Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS) Worldwide Training Event and Trade Show, held in New Orleans, La.

“Receiving the ‘Most Innovative New Product’ award from MACS is a tremendous honor and recognition for Four Seasons,” said Mike Carney, vice president, Standard Motor Products Temperature Control Division. “This is a prestigious award and since it is voted on by motor press in the aftermarket, it carries even greater significance. Having some of the technical experts in our industry acknowledge our new product that will alleviate commonly experienced problems with original equipment parts, gives our entire team great pride. The idea of the Deslugger compressor cycle timer was developed in-house and championed by one of our highly tenured and innovative product specialists, Rick Dull. Rick’s product expertise and commitment to solving customer problems underscore our commitment to being the aftermarket leader in air conditioning products.”

As a problem-solving part from Four Seasons, the Deslugger cycle timer is designed to help prevent slugging in low mounted compressors after the vehicle has been sitting idle for 30 minutes or longer. Upon the next start-up, the Deslugger cycle timer gradually pushes oil or liquid refrigerant out of the compressor before it fully engages, relieving the possibility of a catastrophic system failure, Four Seasons says. The Deslugger cycle timer is not a fix for units that may have previous damage.

The 2014 MACS Training Event and Trade Show featured a new products showcase with 18 new mobile A/C and engine cooling products on display. A panel of the motor press attending the show judged the products submitted as stand-outs in three categories: Most Innovative New Product, Best Use of Technology in a New Product and Most Service Friendly New Product.

When a passenger decides that 70 degrees is a better temperature for their zone, things get even more complicated. Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) systems require a complex array of internal and external sensors that include ambient air temperature sensors, interior temperature sensors, outlet duct and evaporator temperature sensors, pressure sensors, humidity sensors, blend door position sensors and sunload sensors.
