Automotive aftermarket manufacturer and distributor Equus Products, Inc. (www.iEquus.com) proudly announces that it will reach the 400,000th-piece sale of its INNOVA 3100 CanOBD2 Diagnostic Tool this quarter. This tool, which quickly took the industry by storm when it officially debuted in 2002, is believed to be the single best selling on-board diagnostic second generation (OBD2) tool on the market today.

“This item has exceeded everyone’s wildest expectations, said Ieon C. Chen, CEO of Equus Products, Inc. “Sales of the INNOVA 3100 have increased in quantity every year and are still going very strong.”

According to Chen, the INNOVA 3100 single-SKU alone accounts for approximately 50 percent of the company’s OBD2 product sales in terms of quantity. It is also believed to account for as much as 20 percent of all OBD2 product sales in the U.S., according to industry and internal calculations. Many of Equus’ retail customers have also enjoyed positive sales results thanks to the 3100 and OBD2 category sales. CSK Auto, Inc., Wal-Mart, Canadian Tire Corp., O’Reilly Auto Parts, Sears, NAPA, Snap-On and Amazon.com all have led the industry in INNOVA 3100 sales. Most notably, CSK Auto has increased its automotive tester category purchases from Equus by over 110 percent in the past three years, with OBD2 product sales growing in excess of 136 percent.

While Equus Products is pleased with the 3100’s success, the company is dedicated to continuous improvements to this tool as well as its entire family of on-board diagnostic products. Since launching the 3100, the company has made several improvements to it, many of which have been running changes passed along to the customer and end-user at no additional charge. Some of the enhancements include the addition of CAN (Controller Area Network) coverage; trilingual on-screen interface and diagnostic trouble code definitions; as well as several Internet flash-updateable software updates.

Recently, Equus Products made another revolutionary industry breakthrough with the debut of its www.CanOBD2.com website and RepairSolutions database. Now, owners of any INNOVA OBD tool, including the 3100, have online access to a complete repair solution by simply plugging their tool into the vehicle then connecting the tool to their PC. Without the need for training, any user can now gain access to accurate, comprehensive, VIN-specific, real-life fixes to the diagnostic trouble codes and quickly solve their vehicle problems. Current INNOVA OBD tool owners will be alerted to this value-added service when they connect to the Internet using their tool and software, and can easily join by clicking “upgrade.”
