Eastern Catalytic, a world-class manufacturer of catalytic converters and related emission control components, has dramatically increased the market coverage for its growing direct-fit and universal-fit catalytic converters programs. Eastern now offers approximately 1,300 direct-fit catalytic converter part numbers with coverage for more than 25,000 domestic and import cars, vans, SUVs and light trucks. The universal line has been expanded to more than 285 part numbers and can fit 95% of registered vehicles in the USA (all states, except CA) and Canada.

Eastern’s Direct-Fit Catalytic Converters are designed to OE dimensions with OE-quality flanges and flex assemblies. Most come complete with Eastern’s ValuPack installation kit, which includes air tube and hose clamps, manifold nuts and bolts, and necessary gaskets. All applications can be looked up online at www.easterncatalytic.com.

With more than 285 universal-fit configurations, Eastern Catalytic now offers the widest coverage for domestic and import cars, light trucks, SUVs and vans, as well as hard-to-find configurations for both gasoline and diesel engines. Designed to meet or exceed OE specs for fit and performance, the converters are available for engines up to 8.0L. They come in shell sizes from 8” – 14” and are offered in a wide range of inlet and outlet size, and are available with and without air tubes and O2 sensor ports. Most feature top and bottom heat shields.

Eastern recently established a joint venture with Dorman Products (Colmar, PA) and formed Eastern-Dorman LLC to develop, manufacture, and distribute an industry-leading line of integrated exhaust manifold/catalytic converters to traditional, retail and export automotive channels. The new arrangement will team Eastern’s strong manufacturing capabilities with Dorman’s access to wider markets across the United States and Canada.

World-class quality and innovation have helped Eastern earn catalytic converter certifications in more than 58 countries. Continual improvements in converter design, production and product delivery systems have made Eastern a leading choice in catalytic converters and one of the fastest growing catalytic converter manufacturers in North America.

Tech Tip: No Start in Cold Weather Due to No Weep Hole

This condition can be caused by condensation freezing in the muffler assembly.

Determining Catalytic Converter Efficiency

Almost every part on the engine determines how long a catalytic converter will last.

Oxygen Sensor And Catalyst Efficiency

The catalyst efficiency monitor verifies that the catalytic converter is operating at a high enough efficiency rating to keep exhaust emissions within predetermined values. The PCM compares the signals from the upstream and downstream oxygen sensors to determine the state of the converter. These “tests” are called the readiness monitors.

Catalytic Converter Replacement

If you are replacing a catalytic converter for a customer, it is not the same as replacing a muffler or pipe. Since the catalytic converter is an emissions device that is federally and locally mandated, documentation is just as key as proper installation.
